RESUMEN

The enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR) process requires alternate anaerobic and aerobic conditions, which are regulated respectively by aeration off and on. Recently, in an ordinary EBPR reactor, an abnormal orthophosphate concentration (PO43--P) decline in the anaerobic stage (namely non-aerated phosphorus uptake) aroused attention. It was not occasionally but occurred in each cycle and lasted for 101 d and shared about 16.63 % in the total P uptake amount. After excluding bio-mineralization and surface re-aeration, indoor light conditions (180 to 260 lx) inducing non-aerated P uptake were confirmed. High-throughput sequencing analysis revealed that cyanobacteria could produce oxygen via photosynthesis and were inhabited inside wall biofilm. The cyanobacteria (Pantalinema and Leptolyngbya ANT.L52.2) were incubated in a feeding transparent silicone hose, entered the reactor along with influent, and outcompeted Chlorophyta, which existed in the inoculum. Eventually, this work deciphered the reason for non-aerated phosphorus uptake and indicated its potential application in reducing CO2 emissions and energy consumption via the cooperation of microalgal-bacterial and biofilm-sludge.

Background: Light influences the secretion of melatonin in the body and regulates circadian rhythms, which play an important role in sleep and mood. The light level of rooms in long-term care facilities is usually far below the threshold required to regulate the body's circadian rhythm, and insufficient light can easily lead to sleep and mood disturbances among older residents in nursing homes. Therefore, the objective of this study was to investigate the effects of light therapy on sleep and circadian rhythm in older adults with type 2 diabetes residing in long-term care facilities. Methods: This study was a prospective, single-blind, randomized controlled trial. Participants were randomly assigned to either the light therapy (LT) group or the control group and received the intervention for four weeks. Primary outcomes included the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and objective sleep parameters recorded by a sleep monitoring bracelet, Morningness-Eveningness Questionnaire (MEQ). The secondary outcome included glycated serum protein (GSP). Data was collected at three time points: at baseline (T0), immediate post-treatment (T1), and 4-week follow-up (T2). A linear mixed model analysis was used to analyzed the data. Results: We enrolled 45 long-term care residents. Compared with the control group, significant reductions in PSQI scores were observed at T1 and T2. At T2, the sleep score of objective sleep parameters was significantly higher in the LT group compared to the control group. Additionally, compared to the baseline T0, MEQ scores were significantly lower in the LT group at T1 and T2, with no significant difference in the control group. There was no significant difference between groups in glycated serum protein values at T1 and T2. However, compared to T0, glycated serum protein values decreased in the LT group while increased in the control group at T2. Conclusion: Light therapy had a positive effect on subjective sleep quality and circadian rhythm time type in long-term care residents with type 2 diabetes, and had a possible delayed effect on objective sleep. However, no discernible alterations in blood glucose levels were detected in this study.

MAIN CONCLUSION: The loss of TaMYB305 function down-regulated the expression of jasmonic acid synthesis pathway genes, which may disturb the jasmonic acid synthesis, resulting in abnormal pollen development and reduced fertility. The MYB family, as one of the largest transcription factor families found in plants, regulates plant development, especially the development of anthers. Therefore, it is important to identify potential MYB transcription factors associated with pollen development and to study its role in pollen development. Here, the transcripts of an R2R3 MYB gene TaMYB305 from KTM3315A, a thermo-sensitive cytoplasmic male-sterility line with Aegilops kotschyi cytoplasm (K-TCMS) wheat, was isolated. Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) and promoter activity analysis revealed that TaMYB305 was primarily expressed in anthers. The TaMYB305 protein was localized in the nucleus, as determined by subcellular localization analysis. Our data demonstrated that silencing of TaMYB305 was related to abnormal development of stamen, including anther indehiscence and pollen abortion in KAM3315A plants. In addition, TaMYB305-silenced plants exhibited alterations in the transcriptional levels of genes involved in the synthesis of jasmonic acid (JA), indicating that TaMYB305 may regulate the expression of genes related to JA synthesis and play an important role during anther and pollen development of KTM3315A. These results provide novel insight into the function and molecular mechanism of R2R3-MYB genes in pollen development.

BACKGROUND: There is growing recognition of natural history, complications, and outcomes of patients who develop non-acetaminophen (APAP) drug-induced acute liver failure (ALF). To clarify high-risk factors and develop a nomogram model to predict transplant-free survival (TFS) in patients with non-APAP drug-induced ALF. METHODS: Patients with non-APAP drug-induced ALF from 5 participating centers were retrospectively analyzed. The primary endpoint was 21-day TFS. Total sample size was 482 patients. RESULTS: Regarding causative agents, the most common implicated drugs were herbal and dietary supplements (HDS) (57.0%). The hepatocellular type (R ≥ 5) was the main liver injury pattern (69.0%). International normalized ratio, hepatic encephalopathy grades, the use of vasopressor, N-acetylcysteine, or artificial liver support system were associated with TFS and incorporated to construct a nomogram model (drug-induced acute liver failure-5, DIALF-5). The AUROC of DIALF-5 for 7-day, 21-day, 60-day, and 90-day TFS in the internal cohort were 0.886, 0.915, 0.920, and 0.912, respectively. Moreover, the AUROC of DIALF-5 for 21-day TFS had the highest AUROC, which was significantly higher than 0.725 of MELD and 0.519 of KCC (p < 0.05), numerically higher than 0.905 of ALFSG-PI but without statistical difference (p > 0.05). These results were successfully validated in the external cohort (147 patients). CONCLUSIONS: Based on easily identifiable clinical data, the novel DIALF-5 model was developed to predict transplant-free survival in non-APAP drug-induced ALF, which was superior to KCC, MELD and had a similar prediction performance to ALFSG-PI but is more convenient, which can directly calculate TFS at multiple time points.

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the therapeutic effect of acupuncture combined with mifepristone on uterine fibroids and its influence on sex hormones and inflammatory factors. METHODS: Data of 102 patients with uterine fibroids admitted to Shanxi Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine from January 2019 to January 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. Among them, there were 50 patients treated with mifepristone alone (control group) and 52 patients undergoing combined treatment of acupuncture and mifepristone (observation group). After 2 months of continuous treatment, the therapeutic efficacy, volume of uterine fibroids and uterus, levels of inflammatory factors (C-reactive protein (CRP) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α)), as well as levels of estradiol (E2), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH), along with hemodynamic levels and incidence of adverse reactions were recorded and compared between the two groups. Logistic analysis was employed to identify the independent risk factors for the recurrence of uterine fibroids in patients. RESULTS: Compared with the control group, the observation group was identified with significantly higher overall response rate (P < 0.05). The uterine fibroid volume and uterine volume significantly improved in both groups after treatment, and the improvements were more prominent in the observation group than in the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the serum CRP and TNF-α were both evidently decreased in the two groups, while levels of E2, FSH, LH and peak blood flow velocity were significantly ameliorated, and the improvements in the observation group were more significant than those in the control group (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P > 0.05). Alcohol intake and treatment regime were independent risk factors for the recurrence of uterine fibroids in patients. CONCLUSION: Combining acupuncture with mifepristone can significantly improve uterine fibroids, estrogen and progesterone levels, as well as reduce inflammation, with a high level of safety, making it a promising treatment for clinical use.

Background: Salvia miltiorrhiza (SM) is an effective traditional Chinese medicine for treating DKD, but the exact mechanism is elusive. In this study, we aimed to investigate and confirm the method underlying the action of the active components of SM in the treatment of DKD. Methods: Renal tissue transcriptomics and network pharmacology of DKD patients was performed to identify the active components of SM and the disease targets of DKD. Next, the point of convergence among these three groups was studied. Potential candidate genes were identified and analyzed using Gene Ontology (GO) and the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG). The component-target networks were modelled and visualized with Cytoscape. In addition, docking studies were performed to validate our potential target predictions. Lastly, in vitro and in vivo experiments were performed to understand the role of Dehydromiltirone (DHT), the active component of SM, in the phenotypic switching of mesangial cells. Results: Transcriptomics of DKD patients' renal tissues screened 4,864 differentially expressed genes. Eighty-nine active components of SM and 161 common targets were found. Functional enrichment analysis indicated that 161 genes were enriched in apoptosis, the PI3K-AKT signaling pathway, and the AGE-RAGE signaling pathway in diabetes complications. Molecular docking and molecular dynamic simulations show that DHT can bind to functional PIK3CA pockets, thereby becoming a possible inhibitor of PIK3CA. In vitro study demonstrated that DHT reduced the expression of phenotypic switching markers α-SMA, Col-I, and FN in HMCs by downregulating the over-activation of the PI3K-AKT signaling pathway through the inhibition of PIK3CA. Furthermore, the DKD mouse model confirmed that DHT could reduce proteinuria and improve glomerular hypertrophy in vivo. Conclusion: DHT was identified as the key active component of SM, and its therapeutic effect on DKD was achieved by inhibiting the phenotypic switching of mesangial cells via the PIK3CA signaling pathway.

Objective: This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of bionic tiger bone powder (Jintiange) in comparison to placebo in treating knee osteoarthritis osteoporosis. Methods: A total of 248 patients were randomly allocated to a Jintiange group or a placebo group, undergoing 48 weeks of double-blind treatment. The Lequesne index, clinical symptoms, safety index (adverse events), and Patient's Global Impression of Change score were recorded at pre-determined time intervals. All P values ≤ .05 were deemed statistically significant. Results: Both groups showed a decreasing trend in the Lequesne index, with the Jintiange group's reduction significantly larger from the 12th week (P ≤ .01). Similarly, the effective rate of Lequesne score in the Jintiange group was significantly higher (P < .001). After 48 weeks, clinical symptom score differences between the Jintiange group (2.46 ± 1.74) and the placebo group (1.51 ± 1.73) were statistically significant (P < .05), as were differences in the Patient's Global Impression of Change score (P < .05). Adverse drug reactions were minimal with no significant difference between the groups (P > .05). Conclusion: Jintiange demonstrated superior efficacy over placebo in treating knee osteoporosis, with comparable safety profiles. Findings warrant further comprehensive real-world studies.

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a severe and frequent complication of sepsis that occurs in intensive care units with inflammation and rapid decline in renal function as the main pathological features. Systemic inflammation, microvascular dysfunction, and tubule injury are the main causes of sepsis-induced AKI (SI-AKI). The high prevalence and death rate from SI-AKI is a great challenge for clinical treatment worldwide. However, in addition to hemodialysis, there is no effective drug to improve renal tissue damage and alleviate the decline in kidney function. We conducted a network pharmacological analysis of Salvia miltiorrhiza (SM), a traditional Chinese medicine, which is widely used for the treatment of kidney disease. Then, we combined molecular docking and a dynamics simulation to screen for the active monomer dehydromiltirone (DHT) that has therapeutic effects on SI-AKI and investigated its potential mechanism of action through experimental validation. The components and targets of SM were obtained by searching the database, and 32 overlapping genes were screened by intersection analysis with AKI targets. GO and KEGG data showed that the functions of a common gene were closely related to oxidative stress, mitochondrial function, and apoptosis. The molecular docking results combined with molecular dynamics simulations provide evidence for a binding model between DHT and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX2), both of which are mainly driven by van der Waals interactions and a hydrophobic effect. In vivo, we found that mice pretreated with an intraperitoneal injection of DHT (20 mg/kg/d) for 3 days ameliorated CLP surgery-induced renal function loss and renal tissue damage and inhibited inflammatory mediators IL-6, IL-1ß, TNF-α, and MCP-1 production. In vitro, the DHT pretreatment decreased LPS-induced expression of COX2, inhibited cell death and oxidative stress, alleviated mitochondrial dysfunction, and restrained apoptosis in HK-2 cells. Our research indicates that the renal preventive effect of DHT is related to maintaining mitochondrial dynamic balance, restoring mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation, and inhibiting cell apoptosis. The findings in this study provide a theoretical basis and a novel method for the clinical therapy of SI-AKI.

The Anaerobic-oxic-anoxic (AOA) process is a carbon-saving and high-efficiency way to treat municipal wastewater and gets more attention. Recent reports suggest that in the AOA process, well-performed endogenous denitrification (ED), conducted by glycogen accumulating organisms (GAOs), is crucial to advanced nutrient removal. However, the consensuses about starting up and optimizing AOA, and in-situ enriching GAOs, are still lacking. Hence, this study tried to verify whether AOA could be established in an ongoing anaerobic-oxic (AO) system. For this aim, a lab-scale plug-flow reactor (working volume of 40 L) previously operated under AO mode for 150 days, during that 97.87 % of ammonium was oxidized to nitrate and 44.4 % of orthophosphate was absorbed. Contrary to expectations, under AOA mode, little nitrate reduction (only 6.3 mg/L within 5.33 h) indicated the failure of ED. According to high-throughput sequencing analysis, GAOs (Candidatus_Competibacter and Defluviicoccus) were enriched within the AO period (14.27 % and 3 %) and then still dominated during the AOA period (13.9 % and 10.07 %) but contributed little to ED. Although apparent alternate orthophosphate variations existed in this reactor, no typical phosphorus accumulating organisms were abundant (< 2 %). More than that, within the long-term AOA operation (109 days), the nitrification weakened (merely 40.11 % of ammonium been oxidized) since the dual effects of low dissolved oxygen and long unaerated duration. This work reveals the necessity of developing practical strategies for starting and optimizing AOA, and then three aspects in future studying are pointed out.

The combined denitrifying phosphorus removal (DPR) and Anammox process is expected to achieve advanced nutrient removal with low carbon consumption. However, exchanging ammonia/nitrate between them is one limitation. This study investigated the feasibility of conducting DPR in a biofilm reactor to solve that problem. After 46-day anaerobic/aerobic operation, high phosphorus removal efficiency (PRE, 83.15 %) was obtained in the activated sludge (AS) and biofilm co-existed system, in which the AS performed better. Phosphate-accumulating organisms might quickly adapt to the anoxic introduced nitrate, but the following aerobic stage ensured a low effluent orthophosphate (<1.03 mg/L). Because of waste sludge discharging and AS transforming to biofilm, the suspended solids dropped below 60 mg/L on Day 100, resulting in PRE decline (17.17 %) and effluent orthophosphate rise (4.23 mg/L). Metagenomes analysis revealed that Pseudomonas and Thiothrix had genes for denitrification and encoding Pit phosphate transporter, and Candidatus_Competibacter was necessary for biofilm formation.

OBJECTIVES: Because light can regulate sleep rhythms, numerous studies have investigated whether light therapy can improve sleep disorders in older people, but its efficacy remains controversial. Therefore, this systematic review aimed to examine and summarize current evidence about the efficacy of light therapy to improve sleep for older people in residential long-term care. DESIGN: Systematic review. SETTING AND PARTICIPANTS: Older people living in long-term care settings. METHODS: Systematic searches were conducted in the databases PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane, EMBASE, CINAHL, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, China Science and Technology Journal Database, WanFang, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, and in reference lists within relevant articles. Studies were eligible for inclusion if they evaluated light therapy for older people with sleep disorders in long-term care settings. RESULTS: This systematic review includes 21 articles, summarizing light therapy with different durations and intensities. The light intervention was typically administered between 7:00 and 12:00 am for 30-120 minutes. The interventions lasted from 1 week to several months, and the intensity of the light intervention usually ranged from 2500 to 10,000 lux. Short-term exposure (30-60 minutes) with high light levels (≥10,000 lux), relatively long-term exposure (1-2 hours) with moderate light levels (2500-10,000 lux), or long-term exposure (1-4 hours or full day) with low light levels (≤2500 lux) were associated with improved sleep indicators for older people in long-term care settings. CONCLUSIONS AND IMPLICATIONS: The efficacy of light therapy in long-term care settings may be affected by the duration of exposure, time and length of intervention, intensity of light, and equipment used to administer the therapy. Further research must be conducted to optimize light therapy parameters. Large, high-quality randomized controlled trials are needed to deepen our understanding of the effects of light therapy on sleep in older people living in long-term care settings.

BACKGROUND: Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is an effective treatment for coronary heart disease (CHD). With the merits of small trauma and high success rate, PCI can promote the fast recovery of CHD patients and greatly improve their prognosis and quality of life. However, because PCI does not eliminate the pathogenic factors that lead to atherosclerosis, major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) often occur after PCI. These events have become one of the principal factors affecting the long-term outcome of patients after PCI. In China, increasing attention is paid to the use of acupuncture combined with Xuefu Zhuyu Decoction (XFZYD) for the treatment of post-PCI MACEs in clinical practice. Nevertheless, this treatment approach still lacks evidence-based medical evaluation. In this study, a meta-analysis was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture combined with XFZYD in the treatment of MACEs after PCI. METHODS: Randomized controlled trials on the efficacy and safety of acupuncture combined with XFZYD for the treatment of MACEs after PCI were retrieved from CNKI, WanFang, PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Google Scholar and Web of Science databases from the time of database establishment to October 2022. The papers were screened strictly according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, and the quality of the included studies was assessed using the Risk of Bias 2 (RoB 2) tool. Raw data were extracted from the studies and then a meta-analysis was made using RevMan 5.3 software. RESULTS: The results of this meta-analysis will be submitted to a peer-reviewed journal for publication. CONCLUSION: This study will summarize the latest evidence for the efficacy and safety of acupuncture combined with XFZYD in the treatment of MACEs after PCI.REGISTRATION NUMBER: CRD42022365657.

The effects of salinity on highly enriched polyphosphate- or glycogen-accumulating organisms (PAOs or GAOs) have been revealed, which is meaningful but idealized. In this study, three salinity levels (0.5%, 1.0%, and 0.75%) were sequentially adopted in a PAOs and GAOs coexisted biological phosphorus removal (BPR) reactor within 150 days. Compared to a slight decrease of phosphorus removal efficiency (PRE) under 0.5% salinity (from 96.09% to 73.68%), doubled salinity (1.0%) resulted in a lengthy recovery period and a sharp PRE decline (13.89%), and the PRE was merely kept at 27.39% even through salinity was decreased to 0.75% hereafter. Salinity was also found to stimulate more extracellular protein secretion, resulting in sludge volume index reduction (<32.87 mL/g) and particle size enlargement (222.78 µm on average). Hyphomicrobium (0.96%-1.76%) and unclassified_f_Rhodobacteraceae (4.72%-13.33%) could resist certain salinity and conduct BPR, but better salt-tolerant Candidatus_Competibacter eventually became the predominant genus (>40%).

The effect of auricular point pressing beans + continuous intervention on ß2-microglobulin (ß2-MG), curative effect, and its relationship with prognosis in elderly maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) sufferers are explored. This examination selects 110 elderly MHD sufferers who are treated in our hospital from February 2020 to February 2021 as the examination objects, and they are randomly divided into two sets, 55 cases in the examination set and 55 cases in the contrast set. The sufferers in the contrast set are given routine attendance care, and the sufferers in the examination set are given auricular acupuncture combined with continuous attendance intervention. The experimental results show that for MHD sufferers, auricular acupuncture combined with continuous attendance during the therapy period can effectively enhance the clinical therapy effect, enhance the sufferers' inflammatory indexes and renal function indexes, reduce the readmission rate, and enhance the prognosis quality of life.

Due to the body's systemic distribution of photothermal agents (PTAs), and to the imprecise exposure of lasers, photothermal therapy (PTT) is challenging to use in treating tumor sites selectively. Striving for PTT with high selectivity and precise treatment is nevertheless important, in order to raise the survival rate of cancer patients and lower the likelihood of adverse effects on other body sections. Here, we studied cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) as a supplementary procedure to enhance selectivity of PTT for cancer, using the classical photothermic agent's gold nanostars (AuNSs). In in vitro experiments, CAP decreases the effective power of PTT: the combination of PTT with CAP at lower power has similar cytotoxicity to that using higher power irradiation alone. In in vivo experiments, combination therapy can achieve rapid tumor suppression in the early stages of treatment and reduce side effects to surrounding normal tissues, compared to applying PTT alone. This research provides a strategy for the use of selective PTT for cancer, and promotes the clinical transformation of CAP.

OBJECTIVE: Current research on the effects of mindfulness therapy on MCI and insomnia has been inconsistent. It is still a hot topic of research and discussion. This study aimed to improve the sleep quality, cognition, and mental state of patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) with insomnia. METHODS: A double-blind randomized controlled trial was conducted. Seventy-five patients who met the eligibility criteria were randomly assigned to the mindfulness (n = 38) or health education (n = 37) treatment group. The primary outcomes were sleep, measured by the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Inventory, and cognition, measured by The Montreal Cognitive Assessment and Mini-Mental State Examination. Secondary outcomes included insomnia, measured by the Insomnia Severity Index, depression, anxiety, and perceived stress. EEG signals were collected at rest with eyes closed in the mindfulness state. The power spectrum was analyzed from these data. RESULTS: Cognitive function and sleep quality were significantly improved in the mindfulness group (95% confidence interval 0.04 - 0.05, 0.03 - 0.04, -5.58 - -1.55, respectively). Anxiety and perceived stress scores were significantly lower than those in the control group (95% confidence interval 0.002 - 0.004, 0.009 - 0.013, respectively). The power spectrum differences in δ, θ, ß, and γ bands were significant between the rest and mindfulness states (P < .05). Good safety was achieved in both groups with no deaths or serious adverse events. CONCLUSION: Mindfulness improved sleep quality, cognitive function, and mentality of patients. Mindfulness practice caused deep relaxation in the brain and changes in electrical frequency bands associated with attention and cognitive tasks. Mindfulness learning can be performed successfully for individuals with MCI. Additionally, it is suitable for adoption in nursing homes.

The thermo-sensitive cytoplasmic male-sterility line with Aegilops kotschyi cytoplasm (K-TCMS) is completely male sterile under low temperature (< 18 ℃) during Zadoks growth stages 45-52, whereas its fertility can be restored under hot temperature (≥ 20 ℃). The K-TCMS line may facilitate hybrid breeding and hybrid wheat production. Therefore, to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of its male sterility/fertility conversion, we conducted the association analysis of proteins and transcript expression to screen fertility related genes using RNA-seq, iTRAQ, and PRM-based assay. A gene encoding expansin protein in wheat, TaEXPB5, was isolated in K-TCMS line KTM3315A, which upregulated expression in the fertility anthers. Subcellular localization analysis suggested that TaEXPB5 protein localized to nucleus and cell wall. The silencing of TaEXPB5 displayed pollen abortion and the declination of fertility. Further, cytological investigation indicated that the silencing of TaEXPB5 induced the early degradation of tapetum and abnormal development of pollen wall. These results implied that TaEXPB5 may be essential for anther or pollen development and male fertility of KTM3315A. These findings provide a novel insight into molecular mechanism of fertility conversion for thermo-sensitive cytoplasmic male-sterility wheat, and contribute to the molecular breeding of hybrid wheat in the future.

Purpose: To study the effects of optimized emergency nursing combined with mild hypothermia nursing on neurological prognosis, hemodynamics, and cytokines in patients with cardiac arrest (CA). Methods: The medical records of 147 patients who were successfully rescued by cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) after CA in our hospital were retrospectively analyzed. The 56 patients admitted in 2020 who received optimized emergency nursing were recorded as the control group; and the 91 patients admitted in 2021 who received optimized emergency nursing combined with mild hypothermia nursing were recorded as the study group. The brain function of the two groups at 72 h after return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) was analyzed: cerebral performance category (CPC) assessment method. The neurological function of the two groups before nursing and 7, 30, and 90 d after nursing was analyzed: National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NISHH) score. The vital signs of the two groups after 24 h of nursing were analyzed: heart rate, spontaneous breathing rate, and blood oxygen saturation. The hemodynamic indexes of the two groups at 24 hours after nursing were analyzed: mean arterial pressure (MAP), central venous pressure (CVP), systolic blood pressure (SBP), and diastolic blood pressure (DBP). The levels of cytokines of the two groups before nursing and 7 days after nursing were analyzed: tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and interleukin-8 (IL-8). The incidence of complications and the incidence of postresuscitation syndrome (PRS) during the nursing period were compared between the two groups. Results: 72 h after ROSC, the CPC results in the study group were slightly better than those in the control group, but there was no significant difference in the number of cases of CPC Grade 1, CPC Grade 2, CPC Grade 3, CPC Grade 4, and CPC Grade 5 between the two groups (P > 0.05). Before nursing, there was no statistical difference in the NISHH total score between the two groups (P > 0.05). 7, 30, and 90 d after nursing, the NISHH total score between the two groups were lower than those before nursing, and the study group's score was lower than the control group's (P < 0.05). 24 h after nursing, the heart rate and spontaneous breathing rate of the study group were lower than those of the control group (P < 0.05), and there was no significant difference in blood oxygen saturation between the two groups (P > 0.05). 24 h after nursing, there was no significant difference in MAP, CVP, SBP, and DBP between the two groups (P > 0.05). Before nursing, there was no significant difference in the levels of TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-8 between the two groups (P > 0.05). 7 d after nursing, the levels of TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-8 between the two groups were lower than those before nursing, and the levels of the study group were lower than those of the control group (P < 0.05). During the nursing period, the total complication rates of the control group and the study group were 55.36% and 34.07%, respectively, with statistical difference (P < 0.05). During the nursing period, the incidences of PRS in the control group and the study group were 12.50% and 3.30%, respectively, with significant difference (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The application of optimized emergency nursing combined with mild hypothermia nursing in CA can effectively improve the neurological prognosis and inflammatory levels of patients and reduce the incidence of body complications and PRS.

Grounded in the profound tradition of behaviorism theory and research, behavioral activation (BA) has become a standalone psychotherapy for depression. It is simple, straightforward, and easy to comprehend, with comparable efficacy to traditional CBT, and has developed into an evidence-based guided self-help intervention. The main work in the theoretical models and treatment manuals, as well as empirical evidence of the effectiveness of BA for (comorbid) depression in primary and medical care setting are introduced. With the rise of the third wave of CBT, therapeutic components across diagnoses will be incorporated into BA (e.g., mindfulness). Extensive studies are required to examine the neurobiological reward mechanism of BA for depression, and to explore the feasibility and necessity of e-mental health BA application into the public healthcare system in China.

Competition between polyphosphate- and glycogen-accumulating organisms (PAOs and GAOs) is problematic in the enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR) process. Aiming at a high phosphorus removal efficiency (PRE), the phosphorus release amount (PRA) is considered an essential evaluating indicator. However, the correlations between PRE and PRA and the abundance of PAOs are not clear. In this study, the EBPR was established and optimized via adjusting influent carbon to phosphorus ratio (C/P). After 110-day operation, 17.67 mg/L of PRA and 75.86% of PRE simultaneously achieved with influent C/P of 40 mgCOD/mgP. As for PAOs, Candidatus_Accumulibacter and Tetrasphaera were absent, while Hypomicrobium (3.69%), Pseudofulvimonas (1.02%), and unclassified_f_Rhodobacteraceae (2.41%) were found at a low level. On the contrary, Candidatus_Competibacter and Defluviicoccus were unexpectedly enriched with high abundance (24.94% and 16.04%, respectively). These results also suggested that it was difficult to distinguish whether PAOs were enriched merely based on the variations of PRA and PRE.
